The head of the traffic and patrols department, Colonel Saleh Muhammad Abdullah Al-Dhanhani, emphasized the significance of improving cooperation between pedestrians and drivers to lower the number of run-over accidents resulting from distracted driving, speeding, the careless crossing of pedestrians, and reckless driving.

Nowadays, roads near schools, residential areas, and markets witness more accidents. So, he cautioned all motorists to be cautious while driving and pay attention to posted speed limits.

Drivers who fail to provide a way to pedestrians at marked crossings will be fined Dh500 and given 6 black points. At the same time, a Dh400 fine will be charged to pedestrians who fail to obey traffic signals or cross in an undesignated area.

Traffic Awareness and Information Branch Director First Lieutenant Moza Abdulsalam Al Darmaki emphasized the duty of drivers to obey traffic rules to prevent accidents that could result in death and property.
