The Vehicle Registration Renewal Procedure

Usually, when a person buys a vehicle from a dealer it comes with a 12-month registration. The car owner needs to renew the registration of the vehicle after 12 months. Usually, the vehicle owners get a grace period of one month after the registration period to renew the registration policy. Let us look at the registration renewal policy in detail:

As part of the vehicle registration process, the owner will have to take the car for testing at one of RTA’s(Road and Transport Authority) recognized testing centers. This is to ensure that the car is intact and all its major components are in working order. If the car fails the test the owner will have to rectify the problems in the car that caused it to fail the test in the first place. Then once all the rectification is done, the owner needs to reproduce the car again for testing. Only a car that passes the RTA recognized test will have the ability to approach for registration renewal. For your information at the time of writing this article, most RTA tests would cost the owner around 170 AED.

Next, the owner needs to pay off all the fine dues that he/she has inherited throughout the year. These could be traffic violation tickets, spreading tickets, to name a few. Only once the dues are clear he/she can proceed with the registration renewal process. Furthermore, the car should have valid vehicle insurance in UAE to get its vehicle registration renewed.
