Aug 19,2020 - The Abu Dhabi Police Department of Traffic and Patrols in a statement issued on Wednesday, announced an initiative which allows the residents of the emirate to pay their traffic fines in 5 installments over the course of a year.

The authorities said that, in order to avail this initiative, drivers must possess credit cards from one of the five banks and contact their bank no later than two weeks from the date on which they were fined, asking the banks to convert the fine into monthly installments.

The five banks are First Abu Dhabi Bank, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Mashreq Al Islami, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and Emirates Islamic Bank.

No interest would be levied from the motorists if they have credit cards of any one of the 5 banks.

13700 instance of tailgating, 22000 case of not buckling up and 4311 abrupt line changes


In Abu Dhabi, this year 13700 instances of tailgating were recorded by the Abu Dhabi Police Department of Traffic and Patrols . The penalty for the violation involves Dhs 400 fine and 4 black points.

Around 22000 motorists were charged in the first six months of the year.  The penalty for not buckling up includes Dhs 400 fine for  each passenger not wearing a seatbelt and 4 black points on the drivers license.

The penalty for abrupt line changes is Dhs 1000 and 4 black points. Apart from this 4311 violations were recorded against drivers changing lanes without using indicators and has led to 235 accidents as per the police records.
