Have you come across an accident in the UAE? Or did you yourself meet with one? Police agencies have introduced smart services that make it easier for commuters via mobile apps to record minor traffic collisions that do not include any human injury.

The mobile application of the Ministry of Interior, MOI UAE, which is available for Apple and Android smartphones, provides the facility for motorists in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. Here's how you can use the service offered by the Ministry.

Steps to register with the Ministry of Interior app

You can register using your UAE PASS info or your Emirates ID with the Ministry of Interior app.

Take these steps if you want to register with your Emirates ID:

1. Enter your identification number for Emirates.

2. The device would identify and seek clarification of the mobile number associated with the Emirates ID before submitting a one-time password to it.

3. You will then be asked to customize your username and password and to include an email address.

How to report an accident on the Ministry of Interior App

Step 1: Select ‘Issue a minor traffic accident report’.

Step 2: Select ‘Report an accident’.

Step 3: First of all, the app will check that the crash is minor or not. If there are any accidents needing emergency treatment, you must dial 999 on the police hotline.

Step 4: By shifting the pin on the map, confirm the location.

Step 5: Enter the description of your vehicle and insert the appropriate pictures that display the impact.

Step 6: Enter the description of the other car, and insert images showing the damage suffered. Step 7: Check your receipt of the application.

You can get an accident report from the app with a smart notification after you file the accident report. This will then be used for any insurance procedures that may be required for maintenance work.
