Over 150 taxis have already been installed with seats featuring comfort features for toddlers and kids up to the age of four.

Dubai: Hala, a joint project among Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Careem, has launched the Hala Juniors service, which aims to "make journeys for children as young as four years old simpler than before."

The Hala Juniors service is Dh5 more expensive than the basic Hala service.

In Dubai, Hala Juniors is accessible and can be booked using the Careem app. In the first phase of Hala Juniors, Mothercare will install kid car seats in 150 taxis. Each Hala captain will receive hands-on instruction on how to properly install the car seat in the cab. Champion Cleaners will clean and sanitize car seats on a regular basis.

Highest levels of safety are required

"We're devoted to providing our passengers with services that fit their everyday requirements, while maintaining the highest levels of safety and convenience," stated Hala CEO Basil Hovakeemian. We're able to provide our captains with the greatest training programmes and provide parents the peace of mind they need when riding with Hala around Dubai thanks to our partnership with Mothercare."

Hala Juniors' car seats are approved to UN standard ECE R44/04 and have a five-point harness as well as infant cushioning. The seat includes four distinct reclining levels for maximum comfort, as well as a backward facing option for newborns up to 10kg. Up to 18kg may be accommodated in the forward-facing posture, which is ideal for toddlers.
