In the latest step taken by the Abu Dhabi Police, one can find them distributing digital stickers to spread awareness to motorists near security checkpoints at Abu Dhabi entrances. The main motive is to spread road safety in the emirate.

They were seen fixing the stickers that contained the barcode on the vehicle’s windshields. When these, the motorists can get a look at the traffic awareness video which would urge them to stick to the traffic rules in regards to their own safety as well as that of other roads. The main subject of this awareness video revolves around the importance of giving more priority to pedestrians near zebra crossings, to leave an adequate safety distance between vehicles, to abide by the traffic signals, to not allow underage children to sit on the front row of vehicles, to follow maximum speed limits on the roads, etc.

The video message will also cover different traffic topics every week to increase awareness among drivers as stated by the police. Just last month, the police issued a traffic law that was used to hike fines as well as define new rules for vehicle impoundment.

The latest policy which came into effect on September 9 had stated several offenses that are punishable by impoundment as well as fines summing up to Dh 50,000. The violations that were stated in the new policy included street racing, driving an automobile without a valid number plate, inflicting damage to police vehicles, crossing red lights, not giving priority to pedestrians when they opt for a road crossing, taking sharp deviations, resulting in accidents from excessive rash driving and tailgating, among others.
